First Blog

Hi,
My name is Lia and I am a sophomore at UT majoring in animation. I'm from Bethesda, Maryland (right outside D.C.) and I came to UT because I love Florida and the students and faculty on campus are very genuine and welcoming. I decided to major in animation because I have a passion for movies and tv shows. I want to be a CGI/3D character animator more specifically, and I got my inspiration from Marvel films, Game of Thrones, and Disney movies (such as the new Lion King and The Jungle Book).
FMX 210 will be my first digital arts class, and I'm very excited to learn about how different styles of art are combined with technology. I expect that this class will help me get a better understanding of how various types of software work and how they help generate art that is seen throughout our daily lives (such as films, ads, etc.). I'm excited to work on each project this semester, as they seem to be unique from one another and will allow me to be freely creative. Ultimately I hope to better my skills in drawing digitally, as well as my knowledge on different types of software, so that I can incorporate those skills into my work as an animator.

Final Portfolio

This is my final portfolio. I really enjoyed creating all sorts of unique projects on different types of software. Coming into this class, I had no experience with Adobe and editing, and now I feel pretty comfortable creating my own digital projects. I'd like to thank professor Roundtree for helping me learn and giving me feedback on my work so that I can further improve my creative works, and excel in my career path.

Toy Project

I decided to recreate myself as Hawaiian dashboard dancing hula girl. This project was difficult because it required many layers, and adjusting the image of myself to the toy was very time consuming. I used the puppet warp to adjust the skirt to my waist, and my arm. I used a second layer on top of that so that my hands could be holding the ukulele. I had expand the top of the image and blend together the sky and the mountain. I also had a hard time blending my skin tone on my right arm, and making it look smooth. Other than that I think this project was really unique and pretty fun to do.

Adobe Color Photoshop

This project took several hours to create, and it was pretty demanding considering that we had to make 6 versions of the drawing, but I really liked the end result. My favorite color palette was probably the compound shades.
